Cookie Policy

1. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They're used to make sites work, remember preferences, and gather analytics about how the site is used. This page describes every cookie Kwata Books sets.

2. Cookies we set

Essential — required for the site to work

  • Better Auth session cookies (better-auth.session_token, __Host-better-auth.csrf_token) — keep you logged in. HttpOnly, Secure, SameSite=Lax. Expires 30 days after last activity.
  • OAuth state (better-auth.state) — short-lived CSRF protection during Google sign-in. Cleared automatically.

Analytics — anonymous usage

  • Umami (umami.session) — anonymous, privacy-respecting analytics hosted at umami.kwatateam.com. No cross-site tracking, no fingerprinting, no advertising IDs. Stores aggregated page-view counts only.

Functional — remembers your preferences

  • Theme (kwatadocs-theme) — light/dark mode preference. Local-only, never sent to the server.

We do NOT set third-party advertising cookies, Facebook pixel, Google ads tags, or any cross-site tracking.

3. Managing cookies

You can delete or block cookies via your browser settings. Disabling essential cookies will log you out and prevent the platform from functioning.

For additional control over analytics, you can browse with Do Not Track enabled — Umami honours it.

4. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our cookie usage changes. Material changes will be announced in-app at least 30 days before taking effect.
